Laurynn Torfs

Laurynn Torfs obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Hasselt University in 2022. She now continues her studies for a Master’s degree in Chemistry at KU Leuven. During her first year of Master’s studies, she performed an internship at Worg Pharmaceuticals in Basel (Switzerland) focusing on the in vitro generation of human Graves’ disease specific Th1 and Tr1 T-cells.

In her second year of Master’s studies, she will be part of the Verwilst Lab team for her thesis. There she will help with the design and synthesis of novel small molecules to develop potential antiviral drugs that act as non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, which target the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme.
Co-promotor Prof. Wim Dehaen (KUL).
