Sam Purnal

Sam Purnal graduated as Bachelor in Chemistry at KU Leuven in 2022. Currently, he is continuing his studies at KU Leuven for a Master’s degree in Chemistry. In the first year of his Master’s studies, he performed an internship at Galapagos NV in Mechelen. Here, he expanded his skills in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis while working closely together with their team. Right now, he is conducting his Master Thesis at the Rega Institute for Medical Research.

His Master Thesis consists of the design, synthesis and optimalization of small molecule FabV inhibitors effective in Gram-negative bacteria. He hopes to use his acquired knowledge from his internship and improve his understanding in medicinal chemistry by the guidance and expertise of the Rega Instutute.
Co-promotor: Prof. Wim De Borggraeve (KUL).
